Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is one of the most common procedures for both men and women. By the term abdominoplasty we refer to the removal of excess skin and fat from the abdomen.
Sometimes it can be combined with liposuction.
Causes of Sagging Skin:
- Massive weight loss after diet or surgery (sleeve, etc).
- Pregnancy with accompanying stretch marks and abdominal wall distension.
Pre-operative Instructions:
- Stop smoking and taking aspirin or dietary supplements.
- Pre-operative check-up (blood test, cardiological assessment, chest x-ray).
Surgery
The surgery requires general anesthesia, it lasts 2 hours and 2 drains are placed in the abdominal area. The abdominal muscles are sutured and excess skin is removed.
Post-operative Instructions
Patients wear an abdominal belt for 4 weeks and refrain from exercise and swimming for 8 weeks. They return to work in 2 weeks.
